Artistry as Agency Begins with Access
BurlyCon 2026 scholarship applications are officially open!
At BurlyCon, we believe in Artistry as Agency: the idea that creative expression is power. When artists gain access to education, mentorship, and community, they don’t just improve their acts, they expand their voice, strengthen their leadership, and shape the future of burlesque.
That’s why our scholarship program exists.

- April 20: The application period ends

What We Want to Know
This application goes beyond logistics. It invites reflection. You’ll complete:
- General information
- Two short essay questions
- A question about your educational goals
- A space to share more about yourself
We want to understand what burlesque means to you. Most importantly, we want to hear how you plan to use your artistry. How will access to BurlyCon help you grow and contribute?
The BurlyCon Scholarship program supports artists who see their work as more than performance. It supports artists who understand that growth strengthens the entire industry and communities.
How We Review Applications
A diverse scholarship committee made up of board members, chairs, and steering committee members carefully reviews every application. We consider:
- Financial circumstances, including employment and medical needs
- Distance traveled and proximity to urban hubs
- The educational impact BurlyCon may provide
- The work and perspective you contribute to the larger burlesque community
Expanding Access. Strengthening Community.
The BurlyCon Scholarship Program plays a vital role in advancing our values. Historically, scholarships have been awarded as follows:
- 14% Differently Abled
- 61% People of Color
- 77% LGBTQIA+
- 32% Non-USA recipients
- 68% USA recipients
We actively celebrate diversity. We seek artists whose lived experience, artistry, and leadership reflect the fullness of our global burlesque community. Access fuels agency. Agency fuels transformation.
Not Selected? There Are Still Pathways.
If you are not awarded a scholarship, you still have options. BurlyCon offers volunteer opportunities and payment plans. There are many ways to show up. We want you here.

Artistry as Agency begins with opportunity. If you are ready to deepen your craft, strengthen your voice, and invest in your development, apply by April 20.
We look forward to reading your story!
