Miss Exotic World at 30-Something

Created in 1991 as a way to draw visitors to the remote Exotic World museum, the Miss Exotic World pageant has played an outsize role in the rebirth and growth of burlesque from the 1990s to today. This presentation presents a short history of the competition, exploring the ways it has changed and the importance it has played in shaping the neo-burlesque movement. We will also look at some of the issues that have emerged through the event’s history and some of the ways BHoF is looking to address those issues in coming years.
