Open Wide: Creating More Accessible Spaces

Open Wide: Creating More Accessible Spaces

Open Wide: Creating More Accessible Spaces

People have gone through A LOT. And some chronically experience a lot. Let’s make our shows an easy space to come into

What does it mean to produce a show as an accessible space? Together we will explore the idea of ableism and accessibility in burlesque from both a physical and emotional perspective. As producers, challenge yourself to engage with new strategies to include both a large pool of diverse talent, as well as to craft shows that grow new audiences. And as humans, we will challenge ourselves to hold compassion for both ourselves and others in the community, acknowledging that these past years have created trauma that impacted us all. Easier accessibility is healing for everyone. A Q&A will wind up our discussion, as our brains are mightier when combined – there are diverse voices with unique experiences that will add to the discussion in ways one lecture never could.

This lecture and discussion is open to All levels.
