BurlyCon Releases Ultra-Fierce, First-Ever Music Video

BurlyCon Releases Ultra-Fierce, First-Ever Music Video

It seems like only yesterday we were glittering up the hallways and rehearsal spaces of BurlyCon 2014, getting our sparkly art on. For anyone out there in Internet Land who’s experiencing BurlyCon withdrawal, we invite you to relive a bit of the magic by checking out our very first music video!

This little slice of burlesque education features a flock of gorgeous ecdysiasts cutting a rug to Beyonce’s “Girls,” while conference attendees watch and cheer. Participants in the video had only three short sessions to learn and polish the choreography before they performed for their peers on Sunday, the closing day of BurlyCon.

The high-octane dance was created and led by burlesque superstar Lux LaCroix, a professional ballerina and celebrity choreographer. Lux’s star-studded client list includes names like Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, and Madonna, to name a few.

“It was a real joy to see these dancers commit to this project with very little time, various skill levels, a ton of heart, and just SERVE!” she says. “It was a joy to work with all of them and I look forward to doing it again!” Lux’s challenging choreography classes were part of a broader effort to offer more advanced and intermediate dance courses at BurlyCon last year.

The concept for video was the brainchild of BurlyCon Executive Director Indigo Blue. “The idea was to have fun,” she said, “and to make a small, achievable art project that we could show off to the world!”
